This might’ve been the most accurate and vivid description of key-differences with the absolute least possible amount of words, nay characters even.
Dude, I bestow upon you the medal of efficiency.

Depends on what level of usability of an un-updated android one needs, yes. On a TV I guess it’s of less importance. Except you’re dependand on apps that constantly update and also their required os-level. Yeah, might’ve been too optimistic ;-(
Same. I didn’t even find a 1080p anymore, let alone a dumb one. So fucking sad…but I don’t ever need a TV at all, it’s just for wifey who uses it as background-noise.
And it could be even cheaper without their stupid “smart”-crap. But nooooo. Let’s make a TV they maybe can’t even use 10 years later anymore.
Oh I didn’t know. Assumed it’s just the same shit like their phones and tablets. Crap on top of other crap. But it’s still Samsung and I don’t trust them either 🥴
I got a …don’t hit me…GoogleTV “smart” one recently and there’s absolutely no BS. With some fiddling one could replace the launcher and then there’s really not much left. As to tracking and stuff, there’s pihole and no WiFi, just LAN. And they don’t even try to escape local DNS.
I explicitly wanted a google one, not some Samsung-shit who add their own garbage on top of Google’s garbage.
But the best advice would be to buy the dumbest tv possible (are there even some left?) And then be free to choose which box to add to it. Which might also be google but exchangeable if annoying.
“I have seen the truth; I have seen and I know that people can be beautiful and happy. … I will not and cannot believe that evil is the normal condition of mankind.” (Fyodor Dostoyevsky)
Integrity, curiosity, empathy, open-mindedness.
Of the top of my mind without giving it the required though.
Thanks for the last sentence, I feared it might build up to this 😁
I’d say in this old question “are we bodies or do we have bodies?” It’s the prior. Deduct your ability to question your existence and…you just do. A tardigrade does have that spark of life too. But what is it? Nothing special I’d argue. Us speculating about this is just the epitome of that spark. A gift, a curse (looking at how our species acts, I’d say the latter)…but just something that happened and multiplicated successfully.
But also only in the US. Never envied anyone that had to live there (unless very rich, then it’s okay-ish) but now. Omg…
In the us? 1m is shit, unless you have a great insurance. Elsewhere, 1m is decent if you invest wisely.
Point taken. Sadly so.
It’s not totally absurd to imagine this could happen. Which makes it totally absurd again.
It does not always have to be obvious to you as to what their benefit in you actually is. Doesn’t mean they won’t see one in you. Sometimes it’s very abstract not clearly superficial. You will notice if you somehow loose that benefit. And yes, met many assholes. Almost exclusively. Hence the point. But I’m very picky with people.
I’d trade it for a more oblivious anytime 😁
Having lived here for over half a century now, and having met a ton of people and having get to know a solid portion of them better, I could safely say:
My wife and myself. The rest I would not bet a TicTac on. Homo homini lupus est. People are nice to you, even seem like “good people”, but, as another comment or already said, people are contextual.
Be a tiny bit different from the mass and you’d notice why. People are nice to you as long as you provide some kind of benefit to them. Now or in the future. Even worse if you have money and they know it.
Yet, Despite me being misanthropic as hell, I still do care about my fellow species-members (everything living actually) and do voluntary work for disabled people and stuff like that. And yes, I know that most of them would probably sell me to one of Dante’s circles of hell to get rid of their disability. But there are always some pearls somewhere in the ocean. It’s worth finding them. Tiresome and frustrating, but worth it.

The happy one of course. If possible. I never found one that was really fun, so I quit jobs. Hobbies are simply more fulfilling.
But if I HAD to, then I’d pick a badly paid funny job over a greatly paid shitty one any time. We only live once. If bills couldn’t be paid I’d need to lower bills to match my life to my pay. Not the other way round.
You are surely entitled to your opinion. But reality doesn’t care.
Or those. Doesn’t even matter to the fact that he won’t.
Oh, a good one too 😄
