113·1 month ago“Trickles down” sure implies Fedora here, especially when Bazzite is mentioned.

Linux@lemmy.ml•What 3D printing-related software runs on Linux?English
4·2 months agoIt isn’t. The “browser version” is actually streaming a VM running on one of autodesk’s computers.
Instead of a distro, I’ll recommend a desktop environment: If you want to feel comfortable coming from windows, use a distro with KDE.

6·3 months agoI mainly had trouble on the steam deck, in the early days. Most people recommended unpacking on a windows PC and transferring the files back then. It might be easier now, but it is more trouble than a game dump.

164·3 months agoIt’s harder to use on Linux, and lower-performance devices. I would prefer prefer having dumps of the pre-installed game folder to use on a steam deck, for example.

Since they open sourced pebble, I’m hoping a Chinese firm will make a clone soon.
They’re actually working on making a version specifically for game developers, but it isn’t released yet. There is also a more generic version for developers. dev.bazzite.gg
I really don’t understand this fixation on internal batteries from users. It’s almost guaranteed to be the first thing to fail on your device, and turn it into e-waste.
I remember a Wirecutter review on beard trimmers, where they outright dismissed any product that didn’t have an integrated battery that lasted more than an hour. I trim my beard about once a week and it takes me less than 5 minutes. (Sorry for the unrelated rant here, needed to get it off my system)

PC Gaming@lemmy.ca•The Steam controller was ahead of its timeEnglish
15·7 months agoI have one that I got second-hand at some point, and used it for a while. I dusted it off a few months ago, but I find that the trackpads on the Steam Deck are so much better that it now feels like a sub-par experience. I just end up using an Xbox controller instead (I agree with the annoying lack of a second trackpad, and I also find the face buttons a little too out of the way).
I disagree with the AA batteries being a negative though. If you use rechargeable batteries and make sure to have spares, you can just swap them and charge without interrupting your session. It also becomes one less point of failure for the controller.

Ope, a wild interrobang has appeared!

I don’t do any of those things, because my devices block them before they ever reach me.
