Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•How do you track the progress of show you watch?
10·2 months agoJellyfin watch status and sonarr. I do use mal but really only for looking up the list of shows airing this season and adding some that I want to watch to sonarr.
It’s all in one place and directly relates to the availability on my server. Just a couple clicks and it’s tracked and downloaded.

61·11 months agoI have a lifetime membership. Let’s hope that doesn’t go down the drain if shit hits the fan.
Everyone uses smartphones. But to supplement the other good answers here, at some level of wealth, so much of your activities, interests and purchases are extended to secretaries, planners, asset managers, and otherwise individuals about whom you can claim “I’ve got a guy for that”, that tracking you as an individual becomes less effective.
Of course, nobody is immune just due to wealth and billionaires who use social media are tracked just like anyone else.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•It's June 2025. What are you looking forward to in the next 6 months?
7·11 months agoI’m going to get my commercial drone license and start doing freelance work to supplement my main job that doesn’t pay too well. Very excited.
Before you give up, maybe also try either a USB network adapter or (if your PC has space) an actual network card. Some of those can be incredibly affordable.
Wouldn’t flatpak inherently be less likely to rip the system to shreds?

15·1 year agoYou know what, I’ll take a Sega saturn equivalent. We’re at least still talking about the Saturn today.
Floorp and librewolf, among others.

27·1 year agoThe bed is super weird. But it’s not weird in a lot of places for valentines gifts to extend to “anyone you love in any capacity” instead of strictly romantic love. My mom has given me chocolates and a valentines card every year since I can remember and it’s a normal thing around here.

2·1 year agoNo, it’s smoother than even my brand new Google TV chromecast that it replaced. I replaced the default launcher with something easier for my elderly mother to understand because she kept getting confused with other devices. It’s snappy, has all the apps I have needed, and was easy to set up. New apps are still developed and updated for it too since it’s so popular, and ostensibly the best pre-built streaming device short of manually configuring a mini pc. I don’t see software support officially or from the app developers dropping any time soon because of that.

1·1 year agoYep, all 5 years old. I don’t see a need for another one quite yet when even the newest streaming devices still don’t measure up.

1·1 year agoI’ve used both, still prefer the shield. Hardware-wise they’re about the same insofar as I never had trouble with any lag at any point on either. This is what sets both of them apart from all other streaming devices. Chromecast, roku, fire sticks, they’ve all had trouble with some of the higher bit rate media on my jellyfin server. Apple TV and shield did not.
I prefer the shield remote.
The main difference comes down to software. Android TV is simply better. I can get the interface exactly how I like it, and run all manner of apps in the background, making the remote more useful among other things. Apple TV doesn’t even have access to the jellyfin app, you have to use swiftfin on the app store which has issues. You can sideload apps super easily on the shield. (Though for the jellyfin example, you don’t have to. It’s on the play store.)
Developer mode is also a great thing to have on the shield. I can now transfer apps and media from my pc super easily, speed up animations to make it feel snappier, (a feature sorely missed on apple TV) or even remote control the shield (which I haven’t found a need to do yet so I’m not counting that as a plus).

Yeah miss me with that frame gen, ai filter, $5000 bullshit. Give me raw performance so I can render home grown crunchy frames at high rates. Not buying another Nvidia card until they get it together.
