A lot of hollywood writers and especially script doctors aren’t really well versed in literature or ancient world classics, it’s not germane to the form they produce. I know a hollywood writer and he certainly didn’t graduate with an MA in English.
Yeah I’m a real person, the name is just a reference to getting banned on Reddit many times, and then getting banned immediately across several discuss.online communities for hurting a mod’s feelings. I guess if it’s going to happen, might as well ask for it.

Heyyy that photo was taken a couple miles from where I am sitting. Terrifying.
When I moved here, we rented a house in an all-black neighborhood. They weren’t um, super warm. In my “post-racial white savior” mentality, I’m like, this is odd, I’m trying to desegregate this place! Eventually one neighbor took the time to kindly educate me. Many of those older folks had family, grandparents and uncles, who were lynched in pubic. Many of them remember that photo being taken, most knew the Little Rock Nine personally. Their neighborhood was about safety, about a place they could be without constant worry. They reflexively did not like seeing young white folks move in. Holy shit I suddenly got it. As a gay guy I could imagine that applying to my own minority status.
I live in a gayborhood now and sure enough, as the house next door goes on the market, we’re trying to make it clear conservative straight folks are not welcome.
Perspective is interesting. I keep my mouth shut and my ears open when it comes to race, cause I grew up in a literally all-white town.
We didn’t have endless-scroll dopamine machines in our pockets so we had to go out in the world and seek it out. Boredom bred creativity. It really was a better time in a lot of ways.
Long ago, when humans lived by daylight, we likely lived this way, with a “hole” in the middle of sleep, where people would wake up, putter around, chat and tell stories, have something to eat, and then go back to sleep. There was a lot less going on back then, people didn’t have access even to books and candles were costly anyway so there was no reason to stay up late. I’ve had the same issue myself although these days, it’s just the 2 times to pee.
She dropped out of the race in October 2006 to care for her mother, who had jumped off a building while off her medications.
As happens
Hard to tell fireworks from gunfire around here, I have no desire to be clipped by an errant bullet. Also I enjoy feeling rested more than seeing fireworks for the 538th time in my life.
I think you mean we’re just really good at manifesting our destiny in His name.
On the lower density 5.25s, you can actually write the data by hand using a wood burning kit.
cats: hate rain
dogs: hate rain
me: hates rain
all of us: have fucking jobs, who the hell is lounging around in bed all damn morning
It’s called the baader-meinhoff effect, which you’ll be reading about elsewhere tomorrow.
Interesting, it was yellow lighters in my neck of the woods, so I always got yellow lighters as people were way less likely to steal them.
You see, we might just need to cause death at any moment, one never knows, there’s too much life around all the time. Someone’s gotta keep that in check.
“I am angry the overton window has moved so far to the right, I’m going to blame the folks trying to move it leftward”
What hasn’t happened is an IRL movement around a new party or leader. What has happened is lots of “divide the left” memes and posts. I do wonder who that sentiment serves the most.
My boss actually makes people open their laptop and look up the email they ignored, so they can follow the original instructions. It’s painful to watch, is terrible customer service, but he definitely gets the desired result, which is to be left alone.

They know goddamn well a big contingent is willing to if they had the opportunity, so they’ve gone to great lengths to avoid such possibilities.
This should intrigue people who like a challenge idk
Lately I feel like the uncle who drops in occasionally and is like “wow this is a terrible thing you all have going here, and none of you are making it better, mazel tov” and leaves, my pockets stuffed with weed money.

Privacy@lemmy.ml•Cities Panic Over Having to Release Mass Surveillance Recordings
41·3 months agoYes. I would have no issue with all my neighbors having local systems like I’m switching to. But putting a cloud camera out on the sidewalk, where it’s not pointing at your entrance, but just filming passersby (my new neighbor)… eek. I am thinking of leaving him a note, just politely asking why he feels the need to record me walking my dog every day. At least put up a privacy notice we can all read and sign before crossing the public easement that people are totally allowed to walk. Let me know how me and my dog’s facial structures are going to be used to train mysterious backroom Planitir AIs. Like good neighbors do.

Yep I actively avoid companies that inundate me. I’ve switched insurance companies because of it (local agent got me much better rates too).
