Privacy@lemmy.ml•DeepSeek collects keystroke data and more, storing it in Chinese servers
16·1 year agoChina isn’t going to come get me because Trump and his cronies don’t like my lifestyle
The way to go about this is to just download Linux Mint and begin using it. No additional overthinking is necessary. You’ll be able to get Steam working pretty easy, if that’s your thing. Internet bowsers and a word processor are already installed and working out of the box.
Because politics is a game where there are necessarily winners and losers, apparently. You’re petty and gross.

News@lemmy.world•Death Penalty for anyone that kills a cop?
10·1 year agoYeah, I thought this was the reason they were so hesitant to give the death penalty. If you know you’re going to get the death penalty, then why stop? What are they going to do–kill you twice? Lol

News@lemmy.world•Trump Rescinds Biden Order Aimed at Lowering Prescription Drug Prices
51·1 year agoWe are in a global economy. If the medicine is produced by the same company, there is some connection there. I’m not saying its 1-1 correlated, but it is unlikely the prices are completely independent. Companies are constantly adjusting the prices of their services from location to location, and all the money ends up in the same pot at the end of the day.

News@lemmy.world•Trump Rescinds Biden Order Aimed at Lowering Prescription Drug Prices
151·1 year agoIts almost like he’s letting Americans foot the bill so other countries can get cheap meds through government price regulation. Nice way to own the libs

I think this response ignores the whole software distribution aspect, like phone apps have to be downloaded from the Play Store or whatever… if Signal has an office in Canada, maybe the employees would be forced to comply with the request or face legal troubles? If Signal doesn’t comply, Canada will just force Google and Apple to cease distribution, which I imagine is what would happen. I’m sure people would still be free to download it on their own accord if they could get a hold of it and get it running.
But idk?
