  • This is what I tell people: it is not that salty and I taste a bit of sweetness with it (that sort of mild sweetness, hope you know what I mean).

If I travel to Germany in the future, I would love to try Mett. That’s one dish people here sometimes turn their heads at, however it sounds very nice from the descriptions.

I think more people should consider the whole “when in Rome, live as the Romans do” idea when traveling, food is a great way to appreciate a country or area.

  • I love Dutch herring!

Most times of year it’s referred to as Matjes Herring, which is the usual catch and tastes as nice as herring does.
At the right time of year, from around some time in June/July, you get Hollandse Nieuwe herring, where it has at least 6% fat. Has a melt in the mouth effect and even nicer.

I’m going to NL within a few weeks and cannot wait! It’s the first thing I get, even before going to a coffeeshop.

It’s also very good for settling my stomach and gut, as I get a lot of inflammation there. Sorts it out, can’t explain the science behind that though.

  • Seems to me that these days, with a lot of issues fragmented in our society, different bands tend to focus on certain issues - although there are some exceptions, yet this is also just based off what I’ve noticed.

Bob Vylan has been making the rounds, Kendrick Lamar has also been outspoken on some injustices over the years. Lambrini Girls focus on sexism in a rather angry manner. IDLES have some songs regarding frustration with aspects of society, however they’re not as detailed in their messages yet they still provide the energy for them.
Kneecap have been speaking about the situation in Palestine in a rather political manner, and have great pride for Ireland - they sing mainly in an Irish language, however great energy for the message.

If you go a bit further you have Bloodywood, an Indian metal/hard rock band focusing on various issues (I think one of their songs talks about punching rapists in the face).

Just some off the top of my head. They’re out there for sure.

  • I’ve had this, when I was silly enough to not wear protective eyewear when growing.

I know it may sound silly to many people, though grow lights are bright as fuck these days. The ones I started with were fine, but my current ones on maximum power are so bright they affect my vision when I look into my tent for longer than a few minutes.
Just wanted to give a heads up to anyone getting into or considering growing plants indoors, as this isn’t something I’ve even seen mentioned much: if you have sensitive eyes, definitely grab some lenses for grow lights they make an incredible difference. They’re much stronger than they used to be, and the linings in tents help spread and reflect this too.

Without the lenses my vision is like this picture, for a good half hour or so before it goes back to normal, in one eye. Genuinely worried me! Be safe!
