Works quite well. Scrcpy is some great “just works” piece of software. I use it for all kinds of stuff, from typing with my PCs screen and keyboard in android apps, to remotely connecting to phones hooked up in a lab (using adb over SSH port forwarding, plus reverse forwarding whatevet 27… port scrcpy uses)

I have to remember that. I tried some nematodes that were supposed to eat the larvae, but it did not seem to work, even after a few weeks. The neem oil was mostly just for (against) plant lice, which it turned out to be doing jack shit to. But hey, the flies are gone, and the lice were contained by getting rid of the one plant that had the lice.

Main tip, have patience. It takes weeks to get rid of them. Maybe you need to sacrifice a plant. But it is doable.

What did it finally was a combination of sand in the pots, the bare minimum of watering, glue traps everywhere and some Neem tree oil directly in the water/soil. Also, quarantining plants with a lot of flies.

That is not what I said. Please take a deep breath, maybe go outside for a minute, and read my reply again.

1. No end-to-end encryption by default, you have to explicitly start a secret chat. That means that instead of it all being encrypted noise, secret chats stand out.
2. Servers are not open source (last time I checked). Why not? Seriously, why not?
3. Admittedly, not much of an issue any more, but in the beginning they had horrible security (so did WhatsApp until Facebook threw some competent engineers at the problem)

If you want a stable future, I guess you would not pick that lifestyle. And if you worked for 5-6 years, taking a year off for personal reasons is not too unheard of. That is long enough to be trained, work productively and hand over your tasks to the next guy. Also, you could always make something up like “I had to help family members” or “I built a house/family member’s house” or whatever.
