  • I used to work as a teller at a bank and at one point some higher up sent out an email to the branches talking about how great Chick Fil A’s customer service was and asking branch reps to brainstorm ways we could incorporate chick fil a’s policies into our own to improve the customer experience. I sent a long email explaining why I believed their customer service was insincere, overrated, and culty and why I believed it would be a bad idea to do anything to emulate their experience since people who come to banks don’t want to feel like theyre in a fast food restaurant.

A month later I had a raise and a new position in the customer service team. Sometimes speaking your mind can benefit you.

Though, quick disclaimer: I’m a cisgendered tall white dude. My experience is likely not indicative of someone else’s.

Um. This is just flatly not true. For starters, according to the Chinese government themselves only 23 military personel died. And those casualties only occurred AFTER the peoples liberation army started using live rounds against protesters the evening of June the 3rd 1989. And the 300 number is very conservative. The actual number is likely in the thousands.

You very clearly are either a troll just making things up or you have absolutely no idea what you’re talking about

Are you seriously comparing the Tiananmen square massacre where at least 300 peaceful protesters/students were killed by the Chinese military to the Jan 6 riots where there were only two people killed? (Technically there were 5 deaths but three of them were either overdoses or natural causes). One was a cop killed by the rioters and another was a lady warned several times that she was going to be shot if she continued to break into the capital building.

These are not even remotely similar situations.

  • So why exactly are we focusing on LGBTQ+ peoples here? Obviously they are equally deserving of protections just like everyone else, but This appears to read like we’re getting rid of DEI hiring practices entirely. Seems like something that would affect all protected groups. And arguably, racial minorities are a much larger group of people that are going to be hurt by this. Focusing on the gender binary thing really feels like distraction from the wider implications this has.

And the companies immediately coming out saying they’re ending their DEI practices before Trump was even in office really shows you how performative their adherance to the law really was. It really perfectly demonstates why we need these laws in the first place when companies are this eager to be openly against anti-discrimination.
