Thanks for the tip, i had to try it out because i didn’t knew that. It seems in this case the -9 option does the same as default (delete the AntiMicroX process but not the AppRun one). I also tried with killall and its -g option to include all processes in the same group, but they probably are not in a common group since it behaved the same. Anyway, TIL about these options so thank you !

For more details : this AppRun.wrapped process is mounted in a partially randomized folder each time, something like /tmp/.mount_AntiMiXXXXXX/AppRun.wrapped, where the Xs are a bunch of random characters. So using pkill with regex can both include all versions this full command line can take, while excluding processes created by other apps (which, I suppose , won’t have ‘AntiMi’ in their folder name) : pkill -f /tmp/.mount_AntiMi.*/AppRun.wrapped
I have no deep knowledge of this, but i guess there is a difference between sponsoring and owning. A lot of big FOSS projects have indeed corporate donations, but i think for the most part corporate cannot force them to do things (the only exception i know of being the deal between Mozilla and Google). Of course, they can threaten to cut fundings, but i think it isnt a real problem (for now) for various reasons : linux ecosystem is still niche enough to be uninteresting for big corpos, donations help projects get better quicker but you can always fork them and come back to more humble progression if needed (not 100% sure, im not very tech literate, but that’s a feeling i get), and i guess FOSS ecosystem also provides big corpos with talented people and occasionally interesting pieces of software, so they have a bit of interest in keeping it alive.
If you want to go towards the least corporate options, you can try the most niche linux options. Linux Mint is based on Ubuntu, made by the enterprise Canonical, which has a somewhat bad reputation in the linux corporation, for being a bit too centralized i guess ? I use it as it is perfect for a not skilled user like me, but if you want to be independant of tech companies, maybe that’s not the perfect choice.
My experience with ZorinOS has been quite smooth. Though i have opened the terminal for advanced customization and problems with my hardware (nvidia gpu and weird disks configuration), i think there’s good chances you don’t need it. Although im not very tech savy and i’ve heard people say that it’s not a very good option because they’re based on stable but quite old versions of Linux, so i’m just putting the option out here, not saying it’s the best
Perfectly ! Switched to Zorin for my gf laptop who couldn’t handle Windows anymore, decided to do it on my main PC as well and now am trying to revive an old mini-pc with the Lite version. Everything is fine, except for a short list of games (with anticheat like Vanguard or thing like this).

ZorinOS for closest match to Windows, for my gf who did not care for the OS as long as it didn’t change much of her day to day habits. I now use it myself, and despite a few minor issues and people pointing out that it’s quite out of date software, i’m very happy with it, even for audio/visual/gaming stuff that could be tricky.
Isnt Pop_OS in the Debian family since its based on Ubuntu?
Me and my gf main distro. Globally works out of the box and can be made very close to Windows layout so it eases the transition a lot, especially for non-tech people. I had some problems when trying to tweak some things, and learned that as it follows Ubuntu updates, it is pretty outdated software, so it can lead to issues for specific usages. But as it is Linux, you can still console your way out of it.
Lmms seems to still have activity on its github, though you’re right that there were no proper release since 2020-2021. Most options i know of have been presented by others, i’ll just put another reference to yabridge, as it could be useful to get some of your vst up and running.

My guess (i dont understand it all that well) is that people are less again using systemd, than against a growing dependency on systemd. If something bad happens to it, it could drag down other big elements of the linux ecosystem with itself.
For furniture/house design, there is Sweet Home 3D. Otherwise, Blender can work for most of your desired features. Though both have 3D features that would be overkill, but they’re not that intensive for basic tasks as you ask.
