Isn’t the logic behind that is that TOR’s original purpose was for secure, untraceable connections between military/intelligence personnel? If the traffic only composed of people working under the US government and their loved ones, it would be rather trivial to isolate the traffic and make a logical guess of who’s talking to who. Opening it to the public was not something done as a honeypot for people to encounter, it is a requirement for the system to function as anonymous communication for all users.

As for why nodes are mostly hosted in 5 or 14 eye nations, consider where the funding for nodes is (and what would happen if you hosted one in a nation actively trying to strangle TOR traffic).

I suppose, although you can’t expect everything to be maintained in perpetuity. That’s why the repair guides are out there and the battery/SSD specs are available to the public for aftermarket replacements.

If this was Apple, I think we’d all be singing a different tune, since they sue anyone who tries to create a aftermarket repair ecosystem.

A developer focused phone like the pixel line would probably make the most sense since they support the unique hardware features you desire, and GrapheneOS does have the option to never use the Google suite or to use it in a solid sandbox.

Technically pre-paid debit cards will serve the same purpose if you still want to use cash to buy a card to redeem steam cash with. You could also use something like PayPal if you don’t want to expose your card directly.

Another important one. Libreoffice already has an android app available, same with most email clients, and browsers. Only one missing might be a good IDE for languages not supported by Godot.
