WereCat@lemmy.worldOPto Linux@lemmy.ml•KDE Connect refuses to work - (solved, thanks for help!)2·18 days agoBy the way. AFter fresh install I’ve installed GSConnect directly from extensions and it immediatelly shows up in the menu by default. The GSConnect from Discover store shows as not installed. Also nowhere in the Discover store it says it’s an extensions.
They really need to make this more clear tbh, it’s very confusing for people who never used it.

I did check the history btw, it was not there at all. And there were only 16 lines as well so it’s not like I’ve overlooked it.
WereCat@lemmy.worldOPto Linux@lemmy.ml•KDE Connect refuses to work - (solved, thanks for help!)2·18 days agoSo got GSConnect to work… I had to also enable it in Extension manager for some reason. I had no idea it’s an extension since I’ve just i stalled it as RPM package from the discover store.
Anyhow, it’s just confusing. I was installing KDE Connect on both my PC and laptop. I never even heard of GSConnect until I started troubleshooting and I thought it’s just some GNOME fork of KDE-Connect, not actually a mandatory replacement for KDE-Connect on GNOME.
It may make sense in the name but the name makes it even more confusing. Since it works on Android/Windows,… Why would I not assume it will work on Linux GNOME?
WereCat@lemmy.worldOPto Linux@lemmy.ml•KDE Connect refuses to work - (solved, thanks for help!)3·18 days agoBut thanks, I found GS conncect in the Extension manager… Why the hell is it even there? Anyhow, it works. But the fact I cant uninstall KDE Connect now drives me crazy… Time for fresh system install I guess… Again

I’ve actually tried Path Tracing in CP2077 running at native Steam Deck resolution streamed to my Steam Deck OLED from my PC at max settings and it could do 30FPS locked fairly well (overlocked by 20% though). But the game looks absolutelly horrible in motion with it’s terrible LOD so no amount of RT or PT can save it. It looks dope for screenshots though. But that’s PT, RT is basically almost indistinguishable. And PT is many, many years away for it to be viable for majority of people to use.

(The game reports W10 but it was Fedora42 actually)
FreeCAD is great for 3D CAD models but not that great for CAD drawings

I’ve got RX 6800 XT for €400 in May 2023 which was at that point almost a 3y old card. Fastforward to today, the RX 9060 XT 16GB costs more and is still slower in raster. Only thing going for it is FSR4, better encoder and a bit better RT performance about which I couldn’t care less about.
Sir, this is masonry
The goal is to have a Windows OS that is actually usable on handhelds with native controller navigation an UI for controllers. You will still be able to use Steam, Battlenet, Epic, etc…
Dash to Dock is all I need to achieve perfect GNOME experience
Doesn’t matter which distro you’ll pick. You’ll always pick the wrong one when you’re just starting

I vaguely remember something for Windows XP that allowed me to run more than 4GB RAM on 32-bit…
Playing new games at high settings. The card often does have raw performance to handle it but due to lack of VRAM results in terrible framerate or lack of detail
Will give that a try tommorrow. Thanks for suggestion I had no idea ffmpeg can do this
