But a launcher isn’t something you use for storage, that’d be your file system.
More like you keep different CD players for each CD.
Does the dadaist approach to arguments usually work for you?
Because they’re trying to compete on a product level, not a service level. They want your money, but don’t want to have to put forth the effort Valve has to get it.
Because it’s not just about you. Even if just 1% of people decide “Huh, I wonder what else is on there”, hell even .01%, it’s a win for them.
It’s not about big gains, it’s about attrition.
Yes, but how does that make rich people more money?
So don’t comment at all.
You could always save it and watch it later if you actually give a shit.
Why can’t a person be both a successful businessman and a colossal douchebag?
I think a more informative question would be “Why can’t a person be both a successful businessman and not a colossal douchebag?”
I think you’re equating Lemmy with America. You vastly overestimate how many people share that viewpoint.

At least two major MMOs have the player being the “main” character, FF14 and WoW both treat the player character (and their friends) as the “hero” (and their party). I’m sure others do the same, but honestly I never get far enough into them to find out.
You’d almost certainly not be Aloy, but that doesn’t mean you’re not the main protagonist of the story in the game.
Quality isn’t necessarily measured by desire. One can enjoy something they never desired before it existed. And one can loathe something they always desired before it was made, see the Warcraft movie (for me, at least).
Well… not at first.
They basically endorsed Trump with their latest stunt. Pretty sure they’re shouting the “quiet part” right now.
You can’t turn your TV sideways without a lot of headache and potential damage, though.
I mean, I get your overall point, but the initial analogy doesn’t quite work.
You mean like how Steam does with the Steam Deck?
Consoles these days are basically just PCs with limited development criteria. But a much much narrower library.
What are the pros and cons you’re considering, and how do they compare to the pros and cons of a Nintendo console?
I can see how you’re trying to justify a bad mangling of an analogy.
If we follow your modification of your modification of the analogy, you want physical cases for your games, which has nothing to do with launchers at all.
Though it seems you don’t want launchers at all, you want independent executable files, which isn’t what a launcher is in this context.
