Sure, but that happened before AI.
So weird that it took them this long. Probably because pirating Windows was even less of an issue for them.
I guess they needed to wait for DHH’s example.
When Pulseaudio and Wayland were still kind of rough I migrated to Macs for like 5 years.
The failure to properly protect against file access between programs is kind of disappointing. Flatpak has made great progress here, but it isn’t quite universal.
As someone who has done package management for a distro at one point in my life… after the initial push, it is so incredibly boring.
I think AI should do all of it. I’m entirely certain that things would be better, not worse, if we did. 99% of problems related to that stuff is because it’s so fucking boring that humans just simply cannot pay the kind of attention it requires to be safe.
