I was a volunteer teacher in Africa from 1988-91.
I would write letter from my village, and it would take one month to get to my family in Canada. They would write a response, and it would take one month to get back to my village. That was just the reality.
Now the village I lived in has a cell phone tower in the middle of it. I haven’t been back, but I am willing to bet that a lot has changed.
I’m in Malaysia right now, which is a majority Muslim country. Restaurants and convenience stores sell beer and other alcohol, but I have seen signs in the convenience stores covering the front of coolers saying that Muslims cannot buy alcohol.
I’m not sure how strictly that is enforced, most of the store clerks and waiters don’t seem to care.
That’s exactly right. The proof is quite simple and there’s no reason it shouldn’t be taught instead of just getting students to accept magic rules.
I went through engineering school, and 20 years of work (not as an engineer), before finding a calculus text that explained why the derivative of x^2 is 2x. Along with many practical applications of calculus.

I was seeing a lot of crashes two or three years ago, but none in the past year or so.
I suspect that it was a defense mechanism due to her experience of many older men trying to hit on her. Better not to even open the door.
Have you paid any attention to the political scene in the United States? There is no way that a billionaire could be convicted of any crime. In the rare event that they are charged, they can delay and obfuscate so that they die before any repercussions must be suffered.

I would say that the majority of people of the USA are pretty well conditioned to kissing the boot that holds them down.

I was being ironic. We have an egg marketing board, so prices don’t fluctuate very much. To be honest, I don’t really understand why us prices are consistently so much higher. Occam’s razor would suggest that it is Monopoly control of the market.
We usually buy our eggs directly from local people who have free-range chickens. We end up paying CAD $5 a dozen, about $3.50 US. In the supermarket, eggs start at about CAD $4 a dozen.
You could always come up to Canada and get yourself some eggs for the equivalent of about $2.50 US. Of course, the prices up here are high because we have a marketing board that limits competition.
