A friend of mine at least once ordered delivery from the Mexican place that was directly below her apartment. She said the delivery guy was a little confused. She had a lot of depression at the time.

Funny@sh.itjust.works•Just walk into the office and ask for a job
8·22 days agoAny company convicted of posting a ghost job should be required to pay a year’s compensation to every individual who applied to the job.
There should be a well funded team of investigators and a tip line. Rewards for ratting out management.

PC Gaming@lemmy.ca•Gabe Newell on Steam monopoly accusations: Gamers have 'enormous choice' about where to buy gamesEnglish
8·1 month agoSome are DRM free and can be backed up at your leisure. I’m pretty sure that’s up to the developer to implement or not.
It would be neat if steam let you sell a game back, but I’m not sure how to square that with “you have a drm free copy that’s trivial to copy”

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Do you think all billionaires deserve to die?
4·1 month agoProbably. They could have used their wealth for anything but they’re like dragons. Do you mourn for dragons in stories of knights slaying them?

15·1 month agoI was going to point out how heroic launcher is fine, but that’s not a store.
That’s not really Valve’s fault that all the other storefronts don’t care to support Linux, though.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Is social interaction actually enjoyable or just socially required?
6·1 month agoI enjoy many social interactions.
Went to a concert this weekend. Chatted with the person running the merch table. Briefly chatted with a rando at the bar. Was nice.
Went to a party this weekend. Had a nice chat with some people I’d met before. Maybe came on kind of strong to the socialists in one conversation, but it was fun.
Lemmy probably isn’t going to get you a representative sample of people.

PC Gaming@lemmy.ca•"People want MMOs, and the sales of New World proved it" – Cryptic Studios head Jack Emmert on why MMOs are ripe for reinventionEnglish
5·1 month agoGuild Wars 2 is the only MMO that doesn’t aggravate me.
- Feels like a real video game. You can dodge and stuff.
- Other players can only help. No “kill stealing”
- Other players are frictionless. They show up, do whatever, leave. No need to make a formal party
- Level cap doesn’t go up. No need to chase stats forever.
You do have to buy the expansions, but the core game is free now.
This physically hurt my stomach
Do you use either of them on android? The syncing between android and desktop is nice in vanilla Firefox
Firefox has been fine. I’ve thought about switching to one of the cooler forks but I haven’t gotten off my ass yet.
I vote in every election. New York has ranked choice for some things now, which is nice. The way judges are picked is pretty bad, though.

PC Gaming@lemmy.ca•Linux gaming is getting faster because Windows APIs are becoming Linux kernel featuresEnglish
23·2 months agoWindows is pretty bad. Microsoft should be split up. If I had the magic powers, its leadership would be stripped of wealth, barred from holding similar positions for life, and have their faces on some sort of wall of shame. Everyone is allowed to throw trash at them, and they have to pick it up.

20·2 months agoConservatism, probably. The whole in-group supremacy thing is pretty bad.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What's the most toxic mentality that people have nowadays?
4·2 months agoI think a lot about how “good” and “fun” are two different things.
You can have a game that’s a fascinating exploration of a theme that really unifies mechanics and story, but is an absolute downer of misery to play.
You can also have a game that’s a glorified slot machine with bugs, no real player input, and abusive monetization, but people’s brains light up playing it.
There’s some subjectivity of course, but sometimes I see games that are good at what they’re trying to be, but I don’t have any fun with them. Some people seem to demand those overlap all the time.

Linux@lemmy.ml•Are you on which team: vim, nano, micro, er ed for you terminal based text editor?
5·2 months agoI use nano for quick edits. I don’t know more than the basics of vim, and don’t do a lot of editing on the terminal so I haven’t needed to.

I want job postings and a way to reach people I worked with.
I absolutely do not want the click bait and slop.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Does this explain why there are no bullet trains in the USA?
1·3 months agoCars ruin everything. The primacy of cars is upstream from a surprising amount of problems with modern life.

Exactly the meme that came to mind. Notch turned out to be such a disappointment
