1·4 days agoI don’t care if someone is male or female.
People shouldn’t be hired based on sex.
Man, it’s sad how effective peer pressure on the internet is.
It’s another reason why I don’t take most people on it seriously.
I’ve been using Manjaro for years without issue.
It is the best distro for my needs.
People say you should buy hardware that explicitly supports Linux, but I disagree. See if it works. If it doesn’t, then return it.
I’ve never had an issue with Linux compatibility on a laptop, and I use gaming laptops.

Linux@lemmy.ml•isnt proton making linux dependent on windows binaries?
2·5 days ago“Targeting proton” is another reason why I don’t take the development community at large seriously.
It’s full of dipshits all regurgitating each other’s stupidity.

Linux@lemmy.ml•isnt proton making linux dependent on windows binaries?
2·5 days agoFor a developer, it is costly to maintain a separate build for Linux without the consumer base to justify the effort.
Only if you’re a bad developer or using bad tools!
I encourage everyone who thinks “it’s too difficult or costly” to see for themselves before believing the people taking them for a ride!

Linux@lemmy.ml•isnt proton making linux dependent on windows binaries?
6·5 days agoWould be pretty funny if Valve demanded that, but I don’t see it happening.
It’s really up to users and developers to grow some balls and stop suckling the corporate teat.

Linux@lemmy.ml•what things would i lose or gain if i switched to linux?
1·7 days agoPirating games can be kind of a hassle on Linux. You need to install a lot of them in a Windows VM which will take up a lot of additional storage during the installation process. Once it’s installed, you can delete the extra copies. Getting the games to work can be a challenge, too. Be prepared to fiddle with a lot of stuff like Lutris and changing settings just to see what works.

Linux@lemmy.ml•Will I survive the Linux CLI if I only switch because I'm a student and Arch distro speed?
1·8 days agoI recommend using Manjaro instead.
Your complaint is about display server, not distro.

That’s not my experience, at least with MEGASync.
