  • A single repo hub doesn’t want to host LLM-generated code. It’s not like there aren’t others that are friendly to LLM-code, including the largest one: GitHub. And GitHub will never ban LLM code, they’re too integrated with it. And Codeberg is just a specific Forgejo instance. Nothing is stopping you from hosting your own if you really want to.

You’re taking a single instance of a provider adding an extra stipulation to their TOS and equating it to governments banning the use of LLM’s. It’s not, and the government isn’t going to be taking away your LLM. Quit acting like it is.

  • This is the exact opposite. Trying to ban AI from everything despite its use cases.

This is a pure, bold-faced lie. But this is nothing new from AI evangelists.

This is about banning AI contributions from specific open-sourced projects. This is due to a number of legitimate concerns that are still not solved, such as maintainability and how AI development legally interacts with licenses such as the GPL

You want to go and start an open sourced project that uses AI from the start? Go ahead, nothing is stopping you. You want to install AI programs on your OS? Go ahead, nobody is stopping you

But don’t cram that bullshit into the OS itself. Doing so then forces AI onto everybody whether they want it or not, and that’s bullshit

  • We’ll stop when the AI evangelists finally learn the idea of consent and quit trying to force AI down everyone’s throats nonstop.

You want to shrivel up your brain with AI? Go ahead, you’re an adult (presumably) and I’m not your mom. Go access it through a browser or separate app. Quit trying to force it into my face by integrating it into the OS or DE. And while you’re at it, quit continually going “BuT dId YoU cOnSiDeR tHiS???1?” like a door-to-door salesman that jams their foot in the door so you can’t close it

  • No, fuck that, and fuck you for defending it.

People are pushing back against trying to force AI into KDE because they don’t want to have AI continually pushed into their face. Nothing’s stopping the people that want AI from getting it through their browser or adding it from various other packages through flathub. It doesn’t need to be added to the DE. That just leads to enshittification like Windows underwent. We don’t need that in Linux.

The issue that AI bros continually don’t understand is the idea of consent. If someone doesn’t want AI pushed to the, then the appropriate action is to stop pushing it onto them.

Then in comes the asshole I responded to with the “bUt HaVe YoU cOnSiDeReD tHiS uSe CaSe???1?” bullshit. Again, I stated that people shouldn’t be forced to have AI pushed on them and the guy continued to push it on people. They’re acting like a door-to-door salesman that jams their foot into the door before you can close it.

Again, to paraphrase Louis Rossmann: that lack of understanding of consent is a rapist mentality.

Tone policing is a load of bullshit. The AI bros don’t understand regular pushback, if they even care at all. They won’t understand unless you shock them awake.
