PC Gaming@lemmy.ca•Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Surpasses Elden Ring as the Most Awarded Game EverEnglish
301·22 days agoIt legitimately earned all those awards. Obviously it won’t be liked by everyone, but I think it was a clear winner for just about every award it was nominated for.
It’s a fantastic original game that has had a ton of care and love put into it, and it shows.

PC Gaming@lemmy.ca•Just days after launch, Hytale mods already let you run Windows 95, Minecraft, and somehow even Hytale itself within the sandbox RPG, and Hypixel has questions: "How"English

PC Gaming@lemmy.ca•Stop Killing Games says Anthem's scrapped plans for local servers is what the initiative is all about: "You as the customer should have the final say as to when you're done with a game"English
6·26 days agoConsumers are not the problem. Advertising and marketing are VERY effective at convincing people to do things that go against their own interests. You can try your best to be sceptical of everything, but someone’s gonna convince you to spend money where you don’t really want to.

Linux@lemmy.ml•Should there be something that installs Linux to disk directly from Windows?
4·1 month agoYou could just have a UI that runs you through all the questions and prompts from Windows and then reboots and installs a new OS without any other interaction.
You could even have it ask which files/folders the user wants to transfer over so they don’t lose everything.
That doesn’t put you in fourth place necessarily, uut it definitely puts you below third.
I’m not getting any SMART errors, the reports look good. I’ll have to check dmesg if it happens again.
If the drive is in use, how does it remount?
It’s an NVME drive, so there are no cables involved.
It doesn’t have an NTFS partition on it. It’s the default Bazzite install which is FAT, Ext4, and BTRFS
Not mine. It just sits in the cupboard. Waiting.
I think that’s a title one earns, not one that should be given from birth.
I feel like Mother of Thousands is maybe not the best name for a baby.

PC Gaming@lemmy.ca•Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 just won every award it was nominated for at The Golden Joystick Awards [Ultimate GoTY, Storytelling, Visual Design, Studio of the Year, Supporting/Lead Performer]English
6·3 months agoI haven’t played Outer Worlds 2, but the other two, while both great, just didn’t have what it takes to beat it IMO.
That’s not to say my opinion is objectively right, it’s really a subjective question to begin with.

Linux@lemmy.ml•What are the silliest reasons people have given you for not wanting to try Linux?
6·3 months agoReally it depends what you use your computer for. If you’re a casual user, and all you do is browse the web, watch videos, and play games, the transition is no worse than moving from Windows to Mac. There are some small quirks to get used to, but anybody should be able to figure out 90% of it in a matter of minutes.

9·3 months agoThat’s a fair assessment for the most part. I think a lot of the time it’s all just hype for one title, but this game is actually fantastic, and I think it deserves everything it won. I can’t think of anything else this year that would surpass Clair Obscur in any of those categories.

PC Gaming@lemmy.ca•Valve Claims Steam Machine Outperforms 70% of Current Gaming PCsEnglish
6·3 months agoWith AAA game graphics, 4K is kind of silly.
It kind of makes sense on consoles with fixed hardware when the devs design specifically to hit that target.
On a PC, I think high framerate 1440p is a much more reasonable goal, but frame generation and upscaling are sold to consumers like some magical solution to poor performance instead.
It’s called a loss-leader. They take the loss on the rotisserie chicken to draw in the customers expecting that they will spend more money on other stuff.
If you get a chance, check out his other shops. This guy’s got a stupid amount of talent, and uses it for dumb jokes like this all the time.

Have you ever cleaned out a lint trap? All that lint used to be part of the clothes.
