  • ha, k. i get it, and youre not wrong about gaining those skills.

    I would think a good therapist would be able to provide exactly the kind of inter-human training needed to achieve what youre discussing. the tools exist, the people are out there. can any of those who really want that help afford it? prolly not.

    we don’t have a ‘we need this thing to exist’ problem… we have a ‘no one wants to pay for that thing that already exists’ problem, as usual.

    that said, you pointed out this causes a lot of societal problems though, and it seems many of the most vocal or problematic are those people (men) who dont think they are the problem at all. no amount draggin them to the help well is going to make them drink.

  • i like not having to have a microsoft account to utilize it.

    you know whats really awesome? being able to decide if i want updates. or a tightly-integrated piece of shit llm.

    being able to modify literally every aspect of the shell.

    windows 3.1 was more theme-able than win11.

    linux works out of the box for all the old people i repurpose machines for and i dont have to think about cloud-connect bullshit. fuck, half of them dont notice its not windows until i mention it.

    better question is why the fuck would you use windows without being paid to?

  • reddit is having a conversation is some dudes house. lots of rooms. his house.

    lemmy is having a conversation in a large public space where anyone could be listening in. your words are no more retractable than the sound of your voice over an open field or street corner.

    the fediverse is an incredibly public place, so im always curious how thats spose to gel with very privacy-conscious users.

  • because reddit actively prevents promotion of the fediverse and its platforms.

    if you want to help, convince an entire sub to move their community to the fediverse. we need all the people we can to realize they do not need reddits walled garden.

    also, keep in mind lemmy.world is one site of hundreds and only 1 of dozens of platforms that intercommunicate. different platforms offer different features.

    im using https://moist.catsweat.com/ which runs the mbin platform. no lemmy involved, but i can see and respond do your post. check out https://fedidb.com/

    for example heres my interface hovering your account shows something like karma and includes downvotes;
