some mods just get butt-hurt about content in a place already starved for it. go figure…
just cross-post… theres lots of relevant communities for that kind of thing… many have almost zero moderation

i like how taco bell manages to create ‘new’ items out of the same 6ish ingredients. does that count?

poopin or not, theres really no getting around eating correctly and a ton of exercise for some people.
id recommend finding a very active hobby you wouldnt see as exercise. i like to roller skate

because reddit actively prevents promotion of the fediverse and its platforms.
if you want to help, convince an entire sub to move their community to the fediverse. we need all the people we can to realize they do not need reddits walled garden.
also, keep in mind lemmy.world is one site of hundreds and only 1 of dozens of platforms that intercommunicate. different platforms offer different features.
im using https://moist.catsweat.com/ which runs the mbin platform. no lemmy involved, but i can see and respond do your post. check out https://fedidb.com/
for example heres my interface hovering your account shows something like karma and includes downvotes;

not so much the variant but the tooling you’ll use…
ie, ive been usin docker+portainer
my fav setup is kodi, emby, minecraft… all the arrs’ running in containers on mint no problem. i suspect any docker compatible variant would work, but mint is groovy.

i have this idea that communities should be created due to some actual pressure… as a solution to a group needing a home away from some general purpose stream… like when star trek memes took over the main memes channels and thus, required that signal be extracted into its own community…
you cant just build a community and hope the content creators will come… they must already need a home.

do you rent or own?
hehehhehe

this is one of the primary pillars of the u.s. democracy people.
if this falls, the u.s. should be officially declared a fascist state. there will be nothing from preventing the u.s. government from crushing any and all media it deems unworthy including and specifically your personal blogs.
this is removal of freedom of speech with extra steps to pretend like its not.

its harder than it looks

i would just point out that lemmy is merely a single platform swimming in the fediverse content waters… there are other options that provide differing features while interacting with the same or more content. see https://fedidb.com/
im an mbin cheerleader
dont forget its the fediverse, it exists somewhere;

sometimes… the 911 operators had machines that connected to a shitload of audio sources simultaneously… think all emergency service radio bands (police/fire/sheriff) as well as the land-lines and cellular networks… this was back before texting to 911 was a thing.
i was always testing external radios and phone sources. the cell providers were the worst (at the time)… sometimes 911 would work for Primeco but not Verizon or whatever so each cell provider had to be tested independently.
it was just weird first doing it as i grew up terrified i would accidentally dial 911.

i got a job working tech support for 911 and had to make test calls regularly from different sources

the fediverse is incredibly public.
its like having your own little radio station broadcasting into the void. once those waves hit the air you cant take it back.
deletes/edits are niceties… but the fact is you put it on the fediverse and everyone else gets to decide what to do with it.

yes my world will burn when they crack into my jellyfin instance and magically break out of its docker container and then what? goo nowhere on its vlan?
literally thousands of self-hosted jellyfin/emby instances and the support forums are just chocked full of people getting hacked via it! so many!
oh wait, no there arent

oh noes! im so ddead!

eh, maybe. for me it was opening a port and adding a dns record. took me all of 4 minutes
im kinda lucky in that my isp uses ‘sticky’ ips so while its not static, ive had the same ip for 5 years

friends don’t let friends use plex.
its paywalling yourself
the beauty of the fediverse is the ability to bypass shitty moderation. this seems like a perfect example of that.
