I like Gnome because it doesn’t have a Desktop that I can crowd with Icons and random files. The few times I tried KDE I just didn’t really jive with it because the text and icons were super small by default and the whole handling was just…idk, too click-y? Yeah, it can all be adjusted and stuff, but default Gnome is just closer to my preferences than default KDE.

I used to really like Motorola but their lineup has really gone down the drain in the last few years. The last Motorola I had was a Moto G100 (2021) and I was reasonably happy with it until the battery started expanding in early 2025. When I tried looking for a new Motorola at that time I didn’t find anything that didn’t have completely disappointing specs, so I went with a Pixel 9 pro specifically for GrapheneOS. It was a really good upgrade. The camera is much better, the battery lasts longer and has fast-charging and wireless charging. I hope I won’t be needing a new phone for the next few years but if I needed one right now I probably wouldn’t go with a Motorola, even if I could keep using GOS on it.

Yea, working in tech be like that sometimes. I quit my current job because I hate the AI push (especially the part about paying Antropic 250€ per month per employee) and because I think relying on AWS for critical European infrastructure is a really stupid idea.
The new job I’m starting in October isn’t much better though. It’s with a company that I would personally never ever enter a customer relationship with. It’s still reliant on AWS, but at least it’s not critical infrastructure. An AWS outage would only cost the company, not the customer. And the AI push in the new company is much milder because the teams there are highly skilled 3-5 senior engineer teams that don’t tolerate being told what tools to use.

We could just all get really fat and ugly, so that the photos aren’t representative anymore.

Outertune, Harmony, etc. kept dying on me too, so I pulled the nuclear option and set up a Jellyfin server for my music. yt-dlp can download whole playlists, so I had it pull the 250-ish songs I regularly listen to from youtube. I use FinAmp as the music app on my phone now, it’s set to automatically download the songs I add to my Jellyfin.

Only thing I haven’t figured out yet is how to find out about new music, but at least I’m now always guaranteed to have something that works.

Maybe try ZorinOS! I’ve used it for a bit on a Laptop with a touchscreen and it performed reasonably well. Didn’t get to try it for very long because I gave that laptop to my parents, but they’re still using it with no complaints so far :0

Reality is, there is no single proven way to treat women. And if anyone claims that there is and they know it, it’s a scam.

I think Valve is one of the only companies I don’t actively hate. Steam is a pretty solid platform that hasn’t been too enshittified over the years, even though the gambling on there is kinda concerning.
The advances in Proton are usually attributed to them. And I like how permissive the family sharing on there is (I personally only own like 2 games and just leech the rest from my husband).

But of course, they might just have a good PR team and be secretly shitty. I’m always down to just hop back to pirating games.

Oh, that’s not just a Linux issue sadly. My company uses Dell Laptops with Win11 as development machines and every single coworker has issues with their laptop overheating in their bag if they don’t completely shut it down beforehand (I say completely because if you close it before it’s fully shut down, it will still keep running and overheat, fun!)

I’ve been on it for a bit over a year now and honestly, it’s just the new normal. Can’t really say I miss anything, and things like the separate profiles are pretty neat.

Although, I have bricked myself once by enabling developer settings and accidentally changing my language to a dev-only language that made the os crash on boot. But the Graphene Devs fixed it and unbricked my phone within a week after I posted the problem to the forum.

And it would work with the current scientific hijinks like hatching chickens from different eggs or straight from test tubes.
