here’s an example of a search with better results then sepia search’s.

So what I mean is, if you do a blunt search there are videos that won’t show in sepia search or Vidverse search results. Having a communities like feature would make it easier to find user content.
If I search from a server using vidiverse sometimes the results might be better then sepia search results. or vice versa. I want more united results on Peertube across the board.

Can you add some kind of Peertube communities feature similar to Lemmy, to make it easier find get local videos hosted on local servers.

These seem to be the 4 options particularly for ssaid. See my last comment. you should also be able to reset the advertising I.d which you can easily do right on your android phone’s settings without root.

USAID is pretty straight forward to spoof, you can either do it with adb using a PC, or by factory resetting the phone. (which is probably a last resort for you not sure.) edit: or you can create a virtual environment, or root and use Xposed/Magisk modules.

No i’m saying what specifically do you mean by device id. because I need to know so I can tell you if or how you can spoof it.

One final detail, when you say device id. Do you mean (for Android) ssaid, IMEI or advertising I.d or Mac address?

So device id is one piece of the puzzle, among other ways of getting your location and address.
However with that in mind here is why I would particularly try to hide the device id.
It never changes, your IP address can change based off of the network you are on which is particularly good for cellular connection. However using a VPN is still better.
To my knowledge they couldn’t just get your location form device id itself, however device id and IP address are part of the collection they are aiming to grab. As I said, if you forget to check if your VPN is on, then they can collect your IP address/location separately from your device id.
Do cover up anything and everything you can. Not because it gives additional info, but every new thing is just another piece of the equation.

I mean, in what context. Are you trying to to make sure they don’t know its you using their apps or services? Or just in general wondering if you should hide your device id. If you aren’t hiding anything illegal, while using a VPN device I.d wouldn’t really help them much. If you are using modified apps to access services. In a case like this, for instance with Disney+ or Netflix, apps could figure your device id and then the second you mess up and are connected to their apps and your VPN is off then they can then connect the real IP address with that device id.
Overall For privacy protection you should 100% spoof your device id. However if you aren’t doing anything illegal particularly modding official apps, or using such modifications. You might not need to spoof the device id, and a VPN alone might still be enough anyways as long that it is a trusted VPN, don’t just use any make sure you know that you can trust the VPN host provider.

with that said, while you can delete your content from the physical server any screen share, or internet archive are kept forever, also this might not clear your posts from federated servers.

It’s pretty easy to do in your Lemmy account settings. For someone who has done this many, many times .
If it doesn’t you might have to use a 3rd party screen share tool. Or try some sort of work around, such as such as by using discord screen share to share the screen recording of another screen share application that does show your mouse cursor.

1 tb is a good start for most use case. 5 tb…? now you’re getting somewhere.
Some screenshare software has a setting you need to toggle to then have the mouse show. I would look into your screen share settings and check for a toggle like that,

I use it all the time when walking a track. Pretty good app, and it lets my brain not worry about losig track and wondering if I really did walk around the desired amount of times.

I do believe there are biases in memes, that wasn’t what I was getting at, rather I was more so talking about how the news has a narrow path bias, usually as simple as the left vs the right. While with memes it’s more so talking about what is happening now, a specific topic, a specific cause, an event. And ones standpoint or perspective of just that specific event in the meme. again, my point is meme is not just informational but it’s also news, cultural, social and at the very moment sometimes even at the minute/second.
To an extent though I do think that the news can have more in depth coverage. I think memes are good for global events but the more in depth or specific (local news for instance) news can be better since It is leaning more so on the information side.
Memes however, can keep you informed to an extent while not falling behind culture, and sociaty epectation Memes go deeper on the social and culture while reporting news. Which news does leave out or ignore, in preference of the narrow political path…

True, like i’l still search for specific context such as the history of a law or amendments to said law.

What I like about memes is that they have a potential of telling you the news but also they dive deeper into different perspectives of different subjects. Some memes will even meme recent events that the news would tell you. But memes seems to have the added culture to it.

good point. However the news is also proned to manipulation. Going into anything you should know that there could be some amount of manipulation. Which is why it might be beneficial to follow more meme sources.
Hey thanks for responding. I submitted a post about it in more detail.
For a quick summary this, is ideally and particularly how I was planning for communities to work on Peertube.
What they ideally would do.
Act like public playlist, where any one can add their video to the community, possibly with an optional approval list.
Approved/submited videos should show in chronological order of the submitted video, not the original video upload date.
Communities would be managed by the specific dedicated server that created them.
What Peertube communities ideally should not do:
Change where (hosted instance) the video is hosted, except when necessary, such as backup or otherwise.
