1·7 days agoPuppy Linux is fun and cute but nothing really ever worked for me the way a normal distro works. But I haven’t spent much time on it.

1·5 days agoHow familiar are you with Linux? I recommend lubuntu over xubuntu as it is much more lightweight, at the cost of being more barebones. Also look for guides to make a zram drive for your swap.
The biggest drain on resources tends to be web browsing and writes to disk, so try to minimize these.
I am in a similar position with a 32bit hp laptop, but I think I will try to experiments with a cli-only machine, and go with Debian.

11·2 months agoThis keeps happening to me too. I cannot find a way around it.
I’m too deep into the android ecosystem, sadly, but if I found a good Linux phone I’d try it.
What problems have you had?
This is like a google voice number? Do they do VoIP and voicemail transcription, because I don’t have a replacement for Google voice yet.
Edit: yes they do voip, voicemail, and transcriptions, but they do not do RCS yet. When they do, I might consider switching, especially if I can use their voicemail for my regular number, like gv.
JMP does not (yet) support these features:
- RCS, which allows for video calls over the phone network.
That’s funny, I never use 1 and 2, but I use 3 often.
I used to use tap to pay, but I recently acquired one of those adhesive credit card holders that has obviated my need for to pay.
I have an old car and just have my phone in a holder if I need to see turn by turn directions. Unfortunately the credit card holder fucks with the phone stand a little bit, but it mostly still works. The few times in my life I used android auto I disliked it.
I most often use voice assistant to ask for a song to play on Spotify. This was really convenient with “hey google” while I was driving or had my phone in my pocket listening to headphones, but I live without it these days.

They are literally too big to care.
They should really add a description to the addons screen
Thanks. For me what happens is I can browse the add ons site, but when I press the add to firefox button, it fails silently: it looks like it starts to load a page and then does nothing.
I thought this might be normal behavior, but if it’s not I’ll try to figure it out.
Thanks.

How do you install Ghostery and privacy badger? For me it just fails silently
One question: ironfox doesn’t let me install any addons other than ublock origin, but on fennec I can install all the normal Firefox for android ones. Is that normal?
I would second kubuntu as I use it daily, but I don’t mind the snaps.

I’ve been bitten before by these non standard things… thanks for the reminder.
