8·14 days agoI’ve long been hoping for a FOSS alternative to Garage Band. I think LMMS is the closest but it lacks live music recording, its UI is miserable, and the last release was 2020. It would be great if someone could merge Audacity and LMMS.
This is pretty high on my list of coding projects that I would support if I didn’t need to spend most of my time serving capital.
I switched because Linux is obviously way better in so many ways. No brainer.
I use Windows at work and it’s a joke. It’s security theater. Microsoft and similar capitalist entities are paid not for actual security but for liability protection.

11·1 month agoIn debian/ubuntu I just use the file browser and connect via sftp or whatever. I save the password and put the location in my sidebar for easy access. It works great for playing videos and other uses, although might want to setup jellyfin or similar for videos.
Express VPN, CyberGhost, etc… Run by genocidal zios. Completely untrustable.

You cannot privately or securely use a phone.

Well you already have Linux on your TV. Unfortunately it’s android which is capitalist crap. They’ll no doubt make it extremely difficult to remove their malware. Even if you could overwrite, you would still be using the shitty computer inside your TV.
Like other people have said, I think the best solution is using an external machine. I use an older laptop running Kodi for my TV. It’s pretty awesome. Just make sure your machine has the specs for your needs. It shouldn’t be hard to find something more powerful than the TV.

Never had a flawless experience with NVIDIA. Hopefully their grift dies and gets replaced with RISC-V or similar open source…
