It’s the same shit, lemmy has it’s own flavour of power hungry unhinged mods (see yepowertrippingbastards /c/yepowertrippinbastards@lemmy.dbzer0.com ). And due to multiple instances some of the vocal users are affected by tribalism (as in “my instance is better, your instance is xyz”).
Fuck you, xyz is great!
>:0 YEAH!
Oh an .ml, I wonder why you have it so bad. /s
Seriously, do you have to promise when you sign up that you’ll post some variation of this same tedious comment? You all do it compulsively.
I’m a .ml because it was the second most popular instance when I joined, and I refuse to be bullied by other people tribalism to change to a different instance.
(Although that /s… if you tried to joke with me, then I’m sorry, I was/am too tired to understand it)
It’s not that we think that everyone on a .ml instance is a bad person it’s just that if you don’t watch your back you end up talking to a bunch of people who think that mass murder and war crimes and acceptable as long as their friends are the ones doing it. And they are unfortunately also on .ml and to tar everyone with the same brush.
It’s why a lot of instances are defederating which sucks for you of course because none of it is your fault.
Nobody thinks mass murder and war crimes are acceptable “as long as their friends are doing it.” We communists do support revolution, and using force against fascism, landlords, capitalists, etc, because that’s what’s sadly often necessary for working class liberation. We don’t simply give “mass murder” a pass, that’s like saying it’s bad to support the defeat of the Nazis in World War II because a lot of Nazis died.
I don’t think any popular instances defederated .ml though?
lemmy.ml, no, but I’m fairly certain that lemmygrad.ml has been defederated from lemmy.world at least, if not others.
Lemmygrad.ml has been defederated from Lemmy.world, dbzer0, blahaj, etc, but such defederations are one-way. Lemmygrad.ml doesn’t block them, so Grad users can see all that content too.
I see, thanks for the correction.
Honestly I’ve found the effects are more personal. I like interacting with the sh mods more; they’re a good combo of decent morals but also playful irreverence. They don’t get on me for honest jokes, but they’re also very willing to be like nah buddy it’s time to log off for a few days when they need to. (Hubs prefers the Twitter format if anybody knows a masto instance with similar vibes)
