I still used to frequent it all the way up to last month, for some interesting discussions. But now… it’s really become AI-pro[1] and any post that even hints about AI existentialism gets immediately cut down.
I find it hard to browse the site anymore, and lament the loss of expert tech discussion in my weekly routine.
Yes, I know it’s been that way for a while, but either I’m feeling it more or the bots have gamed the website to the point that all you see are announces from big tech companies or people going on about their AI solutions ↩︎

Lemmy is so anti-ai it’s ridiculous. I’ll have to check out hackernews
If you think Lemmy hates AI, don’t look at mbin or Piefed.
But by all means check out HackerNews. Stay there if you like.
I think the fact I already have eight downvotes for suggesting that lemmy is stupidly anti-ai kinda proves my point
It just proves that people disagree with you, for whatever reason. Could be that they don’t like to be called stupid. Who knows.
Oh, that’s some nice sophistry (a strawman, or putting words in his mouth) on your part - nowhere did Recursing call anyone stupid.
Don’t be disingenuous and you’ll be seen in a better light.
Let me just put that here for you to read again
Lemmy is so anti AI it’s annoying but also kinda entertaining. It’s funny seeing people get so upset that they laughed at a meme and then they realize there’s AI used in and they get all butthurt.
It’s downright misleading that LeMMy is so anti-AI. You’ll feel right at home at HN, lots of PR from tech companies taken at face value, no annoying questions on truthfulness, financing, sustainability, legal, societal or environmental factors (you know, the BORING stuff).
