This is one of the things I think that is the reason I really like devils panties. The whole diary format allows for funny sometimes, opinion, politics, and just a nuance for things you see. Every so often I see something on how anything is not enough or pointless in some way. Voting, protesting, boycotting. I love the way the artist can convey things with the comic.
I think the mom was just supposed to be talking about her experiences in this case. Its possible a convo like that took place and her mom related it to her but its also possible she took license to create it with her mom as a character.
