Really interesting, but it shows you that it’s not gonna be tomorrow that my Philips smart TV is gonna become a Linux TV.

I already bricked it one when switching the base launcher and removing too many apps. After struggling to set it up perfectly to watch movies on LibreELEC in perfect conditions, I ain’t tinkering with it as long as it remains my only TV.

Maybe one day we’ll get Linux friendly smart TV and cars…

To be honest, my view of Fortnite is kids buying expensive skins. In Roblox, I’ve seen people creating games and kids are less pushed towards spending money.

I’ve seen my son waste a lot of his allowance in Fortnite and almost none in Roblox.

But, to be honest, while I’ve watched him play, I never played myself…

No bad experience for now, but my kid can’t chat with people also.

Oh maybe, it’s just that for me Roblox and Fortnite are the games my kids are playing and one of them can be played on Linux.

I don’t know about PUBG and I don’t know if it’s popular with kids/teens.

Maybe you should try to tell her Roblox is better as I managed to have it working on my Steam Dech through Sober and Vinegar.

We used to keep our Playstation 5 for this, but lately he only plays on the Steam Deck so I’m considering selling it.

Could you tell me what’s supposed to be in /home and what’s supposed to be in /etc ?

What do you do when you install a new install? You replace the installed version of these with your old version?

But would this include how my dock is configured, what extensions I’m using, what programs are installed and things like this?

But would backing up user data really make me able to install the same distro on a new computer without having to set up anything?

I don’t know if it’s useful, but they are all running distros with only default settings changed and program installed.

The only modification I’ve done is installing some broadcom drivers for the MacBook. The rest is quite stock/vanilla except extensions and workflow tweaking.

He also mentionned that their warranty is pretty short.

Both work perfectly when the other one doesn’t.

So for now I’m prioritizing the wifi and giving up on the Bluetooth mouse, but I don’t really enjoy using a trackpad.

And also I didn’t have that problem on Fedora Workstation but only in Pop_OS!

I’ve never tried Cachy OS or played fifa lately, but I always test every possible situation before inviting people in front of one of my computers.

That way, they only see a curated and tested version of the Linux world.

But it’s not like I’ve converted anyone😅

Not yet but the games I wasn’t able to find on GOG are Killzone 2-3, Uncharted 1-3, God Of War 3 and GT5.

If I remember well, some of these were reported as too demanding for the Deck last time I checked.

And even if I could play them I’m too lazy/scared to install 10 plugins and I wouldn’t want to have a short battery life.

Looking forward to replaying some of the PS3 classics. Although for emulation I’ll probably have to wait until I get something more powerful than my Steam Deck.

I’m in the process of selling all the physical Playstation 3 games that I managed to get for cheap on GOG, but the exlusives and others will have to be emulated.

Well then I’ll have to try it one day and report about the experience.
