End to end system latency on a good system is around 15-30ms. I’m saying that I can absolutely tell the difference between end to end system latency of 15-30ms and 60-75ms. Its pointed out and noticed constantly by players and reviewers its one of the biggest strikes against dlss and other framegen. The 100ms network example was an extreme one to highlight that its noticeable even though its “only a blink of an eye”.

If any part of the stack increases input latency it quickly degrades the experience. Lucky 10ms on an already very efficient system does not make Wayland a deal breaker but if that was 30ms difference it would be.

Blinking has no relationship with input latency. Its not speculation people who play games universally agree that latency is noticeable. Put some on a game at a lan then put them in an online match at 140ms and you won’t find a single person who doesnt notice.

Wtf no 100ms is absolutely unacceptable. Anything over 30 ms becomes easily noticeable. You can feel the difference between preformance dlss (30ms added latency) and 60 on quality. 10ms difference is whatever but its one part of a stack and it can compound if every part of the stack neglects latency optimisation

As for convincing people for the first few months on linux its best to not proselytizing to much. Once you understand the pros and cons better then proselytizing is fine. I personally find it most effective to never tell someone they should switch or make them feel bad for not using linux. I just talk about linux positively and my own experiences with it and naturally people are like oh that sounds pretty cool. I usually dont hand hold either if they want to switch I straight up say there will be software you cant run and you will have to learn how to use it. I tell them some of their games wont work and point them to protondb. They are always pleasantly surprised at how many games work. I think the privacy argument is not at all convincing for most people they just dont value it at all. the best argument I’ve found is that Linux is efficient and quick, it gets out of your way and there are cool features that the other operating systems dont have.

I cringe so hard when I see people advertise linux as faster than windows, just works no issue completely easy transition because i know linux and I know something weird will break and shatter the illusion and they will feel extra bad because all they know about linux was that it was a super good just works experience. So I act like there will be minor issues and then they can be surprised if there is none and ready if there are some.

Not much at all. Consumers are cheap, their requirements vary wildly and they are hard to deal with and buy in small quantities.

Add more panel types and weird customsation. Im really looking forward to the union update where theming gets easier. Hate svg but can manage CSS.

Off topic but isnt KDE Neon a test distro? if I recall its maintained by 1 guy and its purpose was a KDE demo environment. How do people end up putting new users on these obscure alpha distros.

Get a good dog trainer, re home it or put it down. Any dog can be trained but you may not have it in you to provide the kind of discipline that an old dog like that requires. Especially with so much on your plate already.

I had an AMD gpu in my main PC. 6800xt so maybe i wasnt getting that nvidia streaming tech.

I had my SD on Ethernet and my PC on Ethernet and its still completely unplayable on even slow games like rimworld or cities skyline 2.

The bitrate gets destroyed everytime you rotate the camera. The input lag I can get used to but the quality is so bad its like using fsr1 on performance mode.

Finally a good fucking game

Rhel if you are using professionally. Their enterprise support staff are wizards when it comes to finding the cause of random issues.

what graphics card do you have? It should be the same across all distro’s. You either have AMD/Intel and your driver is in the kernel or you have nvidia and you can run a one line command to install your driver.
