I know you’re being sarcastic but I don’t know what you’re getting out.
Do dumb screens exist ? If they’re 4x the price, surely my browsing preferences can’t be worth 3x the price ?

I disagree.
Yes companies have privatised profits and socialised losses since forever, thats not what I’m talking about.
Its not that long ago that you could talk to an actual person in customer service who at least had a supervisor with the authority to do provide an appropriate resolution.
Now the standard mode of operation is to simply close ranks, and make a PR statement like this… “we’re not going to do that simply because you can’t make us”.

That’s obvious, and it’s not what I’m talking about.

I really hate that companies being hostile to their customers has become normalised such that it’s really expected.
There’s very clearly a right and scrupulous thing to do. Not having an obligation to do that is not an excuse not to.

<great thing happens>
Moaners: this is terrible because there’s no guarantee it will remain this way in perpituity

A literal death sentence? Ok mate.

Ay? An exemption is not a loophole.
Yep. Personally my first choice is the t490. Theres so many in great condition.
I like to imagine the IT debt in some office building buying and hording t490s just to be sure they don’t lose their budget next year.

LOL. You do you but this sounds like a nightmare to me.
edit: it’s not just “becoming tech support person”, but becoming the default person to blame for everything.

I’ve found myself using this a whole lot. It really is great for finding foss and / or non-US alternatives.

Pretty much this… although I usually have at least a few moments of paranoia thinking about what I might be about to lose.

it’s fine, I’m not saying “don’t tell reddit users about lemmy”.
I’m just saying, if we want the fediverse to be better, we should focus on making the fediverse better, not trying to acquire more users.

Revenue model. If they have enterprise & community, then how good are the docs for community.

Instead of trying to get the most users to the fediverse, focus on making the fediverse the best it can be. More users is not more better.
Do those screens exist though?
Its hard to believe a persons data is worth that much.
