Space tech can be dual use, as military tech to destroy usa. This way we can explore space, and solve the problem at home as well.
You should probably start learning about politics. If you only start when the bombs drop on your head, it’s too late.

Privacy@lemmy.ml•Europol predicts a 2035 with no privacy, robot police, robots displacing workers, debates about "robot rights" and criminals commanding hundreds of drones simultaneously
2·1 month agoThis is completely unfeasible. Convincing a bunch of people won’t cut it. For this to work, you’d need to rule the whole world with an iron fist, and then there’d still be secret resistance research labs everywhere.

9·1 month agoSurely they’re gonna build a robot police force with no oil, no gallium, and no robot factories.
I predict a 2035 with no europe.
(Although I do like the idea of being a criminal commanding hundreds of robots. The republican space cops with their slave armies and idealism magic would hate me. CIS ftw.)
Someone linked to lemmygrad on r/latestagecapitalism. I looked at both lemmy and lemmygrad (this was pre-federation) and realized that the “hard-coded slur filter” was genius.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•I think Lemmy in general is very against AI. I'm rather new here, is it like a fediverse group thing or is this even based on reality?
42·2 months agoIt’s the year 2026. All of Lemmy has been conquered by AI haters.
All of Lemmy? No. A small instance resists: Lemmygrad.

Comics@lemmy.ml•Israel being in the tech forefront of AI and computer vision just so they can have the high tech apartheid changes your perspective that tech and intelligence alone can fix/save the world
1·3 months agoBut if you don’t have it, you are already dead. No nukes = dead, no electricity = dead, no AI = also dead.
It already happened and has over 1b people behind it.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Why are there many complains about AI power usage but almost none about the resources being wasted by the war/arms industry?

2·3 months agoI have a solution its called china
They have solar panels those neither use water nor produce co2/ch4, they can train the AI (the energy-intensive part)
Then you download the AI from the internet and can use it 100000x and it will use less energy than a washing machine, and neither consume water nor produce co2/ch4

1·3 months agoOnline models probably use even less than local ones, since they will likely be better optimized, and run on dedicated hardware.

At first I didn’t like the idea of a name change. But WLBR is perfect (because I’m a wilbur fan).
