Yeah, they are like cockroaches. An alternative to marketplace and online stores is sorely needed, even for good old exchange of things.

Yeah, I just skipped the lmao part and thought they were serious. My account is like 5yo or something, I absolutely get that all the time.

Ah, forget it. Didn’t see the LMAO. Sorry.

It was weird, because the comment ended up doing the same. I thought it was sincere and thought “ah, here we go again”.
Noticed the same. It’s not even a hard thing to understand.

About the taboo reasons or reason to mention lemmy.ml in this post.
Steve Jobs vibes.

IDK, maybe because they got like 800 million people out of poverty in ~40 years? Meanwhile, the USA just accepted 50 years ago that 10-15% of their population will be poor regardless of being the richest country by GDP in the world since before then.
Maybe.

Hello. Care to discuss about your comment?

Yes, more or less. But the issue is not about running local models; that’s fine even if it’s only for curiosity. The issue is about shoving so-called AI in every activity with the promise it will solve most of your everyday problems, or for mere entertainment. I’m not against “AI”, I’m against the current commercialization attempts to monopolize the technology by already huge companies that will only seek profit, no matter the state of the planet and the other non-millionaire people. And this is exactly why even a bubble burst is concerning to me, as the poor are the ones that will truly suffer the consequences of billionaires betting in their mansions with their spare palaces.

I expect it’s a bubble that will burst. Climate change is no joke and only very stubborn people keeps denying it. AI is not like the massive use of combustion-based energy. That was strike two.

In Mexico, who adds a bunch of Spanish speakers, it would be Hernandez before those two. Lopez would also be up there.

See, it’s not fun for the planet.

Kvaesitso. It’s a bit weird, but I like weird.

If only this publication was closed sourced.

Still, that’s a keyword.
I’m in the same boat. The way it’s been used until now feels like mindlessly malnourishing the planet and the society. The AI economic bubble burst will be brutal, though.
I thought that was the whole deal with unlocking the bootloader.
Can’t you use AFWall+ as a traditional firewall anymore?
In my country, biometrics are now prevalent. I had a very hard time giving my face to my bank, but the government is on board with this because, they say, we have to combat money laundry. They are trying to tie EVERYTHING to our identities: biometrics, mobile phone number, official documents, bank accounts, they are all tightly tied already.
So, people feel like their biometrics are already out there, since they don’t grasp the concept of attack surface. Until now, we need to give our biometrics to vote, to pay taxes, to get a passport, to get a drivers license (in some places), and to get a serious bank account. The only way we can deny biometrics is by not needing any of those services (very poor, and very rich people that don’t like to travel the world). Under these circumstances, most people just give away their biometrics to anyone that asks, it’s a given for them.
