I keep hearing stuff like that Poland has bad air and that only half the locals are nice and such and that Italians are so much friendlier, the country’s sunnier, and “don’t ever go to Poland, you wouldn’t like it there”.

Some people say just vacation to both countries, girlfriend says live in Italy but vacation in Poland, and my dad and uncle say to vacation in Italy but live in Poland.

I’m still young so I won’t worry about it now, but which seems to be more welcoming, more opportunities, and clean to live and all? Both seem about the same to me and both seem very culturally rich and pretty.

    I’ve been living in Poland for the last 13 years and can only say good about the country. The language barrier still exists after all that time but luckily most younger Polish speak English. It’s definitely a nice place to life.

    I cannot comment about living in Italy as I have only visited it for vacation a few times. It’s a beautiful country and people where nice everywhere but if it comes to work, I’m sure Poland has more to offer. It’s the outsourcing country of Europe. Good wages and highly qualified people.

    The fact is, everyone has different experiences in each country. And different people find it easier to assimilate into one or the other.

    Folks here can share their own stories, but that may not help you figure out which is best for you.

    I can’t speak to Italy, but I know Poland has a significant fascist movement these days.

    I can’t speak to Poland, but I know Italy isn’t a monolith. Not even the language is universal, though everyone understands “standard” Italian, which historically wasn’t exactly anyone’s first language. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Languages_of_Italy

    People in Poland are friendly and cities are surprisingly international and it looks very liveable (walkable + bike lanes). If you ignore the weather, Poland is better.

    Well, I’d say Portugal, actually, but I’m biased. They speak the same language of the country my parents went to on holiday and gave birth to me, so I was born there (in Brazil). Italy speaks a language in the same family, but Poland is a neighbor of my favorite country, even if they seem to be at odds with one another: Russia. (Not a Russia supporter though)
