I want a book that impossible to do a book report on, an objectively good book that is at least short story length but has no deeper meaning, metaphor or character motivation really nothing worth discussing outside of the literal actions that take place

I wonder if I could get ai to steal something I want to make that I’m pretty sure is impossible at least by humans, it would be nice to have an objectively good book that is at least short story length but has no deeper meaning or essentially impossible to do a book report on outside of talking about the plotI don’t know why this still nags me so much almost twenty years outside of school but it’s something that hits me at least once a week, I fear I might have to one day act on this and either waste money on ai or start a writing contest with a prize/bounty though I know I couldn’t be a/the judge

You are really robbing yourself. This is a great opportunity to read something that will help give you understanding. You should try a history book. I’ve been reading a history book written in 1915 it was supposed to short stories, one of them about what they called the Russian “Revolution” in 1905 where the tsar was beset by organized labor, the tsar went hard against them but it only increased the strikes across the empire, long story short they made a constitutional monarchy but the first Duma, Congress of sorts, was liquidated by the tsar for insolence, naturally grabbed and sent the gulags for the rest of their lives and or murdered.

But the author, Tolstoy I believe, he was like a hopeful and shit, haha, in a sad way. It’s not very often you find a hopeful Russian either.

But they did make a few advancements, obviously World War I changed everything, what with what was it 6 million dead Russians in World War 1, the tsar really sucked at War apparently.

I’m not unfamiliar with the works of good authors (as far as I’m aware) but I haven’t tried a lot of real history outside of a few small things like myths and “the history of vice” I think though mostly I’m really into scifi and fantasy, I’d have to say terry pratchett and david wong are my two favourites and jonathon howard is up there too but maybe it all affects me differently because I’m pretty much exclusively an audiobook guy

I’ll admit I’m can have a good deal of subtext go right over my head like thinking the end to american psycho meant that he was in some sort of punishment afterlife type thing where e had live out life with no real affect on the world or the trans stuff in some discworld books

I can’t follow audiobooks well myself. I need the written word, but you should look into Norse mythology. It is a pretty good and easy to understand read, it makes a lot more sense that Greek mythology I can tell you that.

I have trouble with normal books because I lose track of my place so I end up rereading lines if I’m actually getting into it, I really wish I had found audiobooks while I was in school because I could have got through them at a reasonable pace and not needing to do a poor job skimming

I am the opposite, I daydream and have to go back constantly in audiobooks, on the page I can follow it better. I need some stimulant like adderol or something really but can’t get it for a reasonable price.

The very fact that you want this and is the impetus for writing this story means that there is a deeper meaning to be found within it. That’s the beauty of art.

if that’s the very best I can hope then it’s at least a step in the right direction but it’s part of the reason I’m not sure it’s possible, might just be obstinate defiance but I don’t want beauty or art I want revenge without really being wronged in any meaningful way

That’s interesting because something like that kind of comes at it from the opposite direction by having so many possible meanings that it’s pointless
